Principal's Message - Welcome to KMS Elementary

Welcome to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (KMS) Elementary school.  Thank you for your interest in KMS Elementary School. I believe the education of elementary age children is one of the most significant jobs, because as educators we are teaching children and working with families to prepare children for life after school and the real world. 

KMS Elementary is located in Murdock, Minnesota, serving students in grades K-6. Approximately 455 students call KMS Elementary their school and consider themselves to be KMS SAINTS.

What sets our school culture apart is our focus on building strong positive relationships with our students and parents.  Our school culture is built on a research based approach called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) for schools.  PBIS is a nationally recognized behavioral approach structured around common behavioral expectations.

School is one of the places students prepare for the real world.  KMS Elementary SAINTS are taught about choices and positive behavioral expectation based on:

• Being Kind
• Being Safe
• Being Responsible

We are proud of the work we do here.  The KMS Elementary staff is outstanding. They spend countless hours making sure that each and every student is achieving at his or her highest potential.  The teachers demonstrate a willingness to go the extra mile.
